Cancer affects almost every family. In 1996, Lung Cancer took my Dad, a lifelong smoker.  In 1991, Richard’s Dad died at 65, also a lifelong smoker. In 2023, Richard was diagnosed with Lung Cancer – a person who had never smoked a day in his life. Our diagnosis came on January 2, 2023 – and it forever changed how we operate as a couple. We wanted to be private at first, but then we decided that being open about our journey might help others.  In March of 2023, we created the DOmor for Cancer Research Gala & Auction (“DOmor” pronounced like “tumor”). This year, we have officially become the DOmor for Cancer Care Foundation, Inc. A 501 © 3!  This will be DOmor 4!  We could not have done it — and we cannot continue to do it… without our sponsors and our guests. For 2026, our goal is to raise $55,000.  We sincerely hope you will join us on Saturday, September 12, 2026, to continue to raise money for research, cancer care, – and awareness for the importance of early detection. 

We have met many people along the way – people who have survived Cancer and want to work on our Gala to make us all more aware, less alone, more informed, and genuinely, better stewards of our own health.

We’re thrilled to have Dr. Hugh Auchincloss, Richard’s Surgeon, back to speak to us about the last year in research and how we can help make his efforts benefit those in our families and communities. 

We will also welcome Dr. Lecia Sequist, Medical Oncologist, and Program Director, Cancer Early Detection and Diagnosis Clinic & Landry Family Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Sequist is the helm of many projects that are directly impacting the success of therapies for patients. One of her discoveries plays a daily role in Richard’s health.
